Most Paleo food recipes are too expensive for the average household

Paleo foods is not the average dieting fad that has unhealthy, strange and unrealistic restrictions but it is the most expensive option. This is tragic in my opinion because it is the way the human race was meant to eat.

The next point to answer would be what is the paleo diet foods made up of? The Paleo food list consists of unprocessed foods, meat, fish, vegetables, fruits, nuts and eggs. The main thing that must be excluded is all grains, beans, rice, wheat, processed foods, and most dairy (strictly speaking). Therefore, making paleo recipes a very expensive diet in any country but with a positive attitude and creativity it is possible, after all our health is of the utmost importance.

As a working mom of two and with an average income to work with keeping a paleo household is challenging to say the least, not to mention the allergies that have to been factored into the mess. Eggs, some fruit and some nut allergies are among the allergies that people have to deal with when committing to a paleo lifestyle.

Eggs are a huge part of most successful paleo recipes and it is certainly difficult to overcome this, however once you learn that flax seed and water can make an egg for your cookies, breads, and other baked items, a light appears and gives hope. Breakfast without eggs is especially challenging with small children that want cereal and other terribly harmful breakfast foods. However, fruit salad has proven to be very successful as well as healthier nut bars in place of eggs. If anyone is allergic to nuts then smoothies, coconut bars and eggs would be great options. These options are the most cost effective as they do not require expensive meats and other high priced foods.

Cheap lunches can be a daunting task at first, but think of cheaper “bulk” foods that can supplement the more expensive foods to even out the cost and even save a bit. Using a little meat and making a stew of carrots, peas, cauliflower, and tomatoes is a very reasonable cost effective meal that can easily last 2-3 lunches if bulked up with veggies and portioned out ahead of time. This technique will also save time throughout the week and time is money saved!

Snacks are also easier than they appear; try homemade dried apples, bananas and mushrooms, these are well priced for most of the year. Home food dehydrators are quite inexpensive online.

Affordable dinners are up next! It is shocking how once a stomach has adapted to eating healthier meals how little it needs to get full. A small portion of meat combine with a large salad is very satisfying and filling yet friendly on the waist. Another creative idea for a paleo dinner is soup; soup can be made from anything (butternut, leeks, and assorted seasonal veggies) and requires very little to fill up on and make a wholesome meal.
