Educational New Book about Learning Word Patterns
“Consonants in Context” by Mairi Rennie is published
About the Book:
For few minutes in a class, a small list or particular word pattern can be introduced, pointing out any exceptions. Students improve their spelling more successfully by this method rather than by learning random word lists. Games and quizzes can be devised to add interest. Students are often intrigued by the history of the language and its effects on English, and this too can encourage learning.
About the Author:
Mairi Rennie has an M.A. from St Andrews and Ph.D. from Southampton University, along with 40 years of teaching English language and EFL from school to postgraduate level in UK and USA. She believes literature is primarily concerned with human nature and its overt expression in action and relationship. This runs together with a deep understanding of the sciences which similarly attempt to explain human behaviour.
Mairi is also the author of “Apes That Sing Their Soul” –
