Lyle&Scott: the history of brand establishment

1874. Walter Scott and William Lyle founded a tiny knitwear factory at Hawick. At first it specialized in underwear production.
1882. Under the management of Charles Oliver the factory has started its worldwide expansion.
1926. Lyle&Scott took out a patent for its accomplished wool processing technologies. It was a remarkable achievement that helped the brand sweep into the realm of international fashion.
1951. Renowned photographer Walter Nurnberg visited the factory to make some pictures of its industrial interiors. The iconic photos slipped into fashionable magazines, and that was a good investment in brand reputation.
1954. It was promising start of collaboration with respected fashion houses: Dior, Channel, Yves Saint Laurent, Michael Kors and others.
1958. Laconic silhouettes and superior craftsmanship made the brand the most adorable label of modernists, who afterwards took part in Lyle&Scott promotion.
1960. In the 60’s the brand launched its own collection of fine garments for golfers. Some A-list players and fans became the faces of the brand.
1975. Lyle&Scott was offered the ultimate award – the Royal Warrant. It has been given by the special royal committee for excellent quality, supreme service and remarkable achievements in business.
