Who better to sponsor the ‘New Product of the Year (Mechanical)’ at 2013’s British Engineering Excellence Awards, than industry pioneers igus UK themselves?!

Thursday the 24th of October saw the breathtaking 8 Northumberland, just off Trafalgar square in London, open its grand doors to the highest calibre of British Engineering talent and innovation for the year of 2013. The event kicked off with some fantastic guest speakers of whom really captured the essence of what makes engineering such an interesting industry to be in today and how the future engineers are advancing the sector to a whole other level.

Justin Leonard, director of energy-chain from igus UK, stepped on stage to announce the winner of the sponsored category ‘New Mechanical Product of the Year’.

Judges focused upon the technology used alongside the speed with which the design has been brought to market. Entrants essentially had to state why there was a need for the product initially within the company or in terms of a product upgrade, indicate how performance was increased yet costs were reduced.
