Oak Park, CA, July 21, 2016 — The Steel Mill Band, an early look at Bruce Springsteen and Stevie Van Zandt was a band known for playing long past curfews and at times causing riots. The group became notoriously known for their stage performance along with the charisma they later became known for live. True to Springsteen form, Steel Mill highlighted the early versions of Springsteen’s well established penchant for much longer shows than most all other rock acts. At numerous times they played beyond their set time, angering police which eventually created an angry crowd that left both police and fans injured.
“Bruce has always been first and foremost an entertainer, singer/songwriter who enjoyed playing all night long in local New Jersey bars. His long time collaboration with Stevie Van Zandt began back then and continues today. Their famous show stopping live performance began as the bar band, the Steel Mill Band, and were honed working in local bars, playing for hour, taking a short break, then going back to playing for hours at a time. Both Springsteen and Van Zandt built their reputations on giving their audiences more than their money’s worth and a night they would not forget” says Shelly Liebowitz, President of SRI Records. “We are very pleased to have been able to produce and distribute these wonderful recordings through an arrangement with, the owner Jim Cretecos”, Liebowitz added.
This gem is an early look into Bruce and Stevie, “There was something incredibly charismatic and incredibly powerful about what they were doing,” said Swim Club owner Richard Kleva, who booked Steel Mill based on their rave reviews and loyal local following. See http://tinyurl.com/zfzsjd4
