The traders of Hamlet Court Road will be celebrating all the fantastic retailers, restaurants and services that the street has to offer in a fabulous Street Spectacular on Tuesday 4th June, from 3pm-7pm.

Organised by Havens Limited, Hamlet Court Road’s very own department store, (recently dubbed the “Selfridges of Southend” by TOWIE’s Harry Derbidge) the event is a show of true community spirit from the Hamlet Court Road traders who have joined forces to put on a whole host of exciting events, including a street market, art exhibition, beauty demos, product demos, samples, exclusive discounts and a brilliant prize draw.

A road closure is planned between Anerley Road and St Helens Road from 3pm-7pm, where the street market will be located. Stalls will be showcasing some of the delicious dishes available from the excellent restaurants on Hamlet Court Road, as well as a tempting selection of naughty treats from Debbie’s Cake Emporium and JJ Sweets and a Heineken stand run by The Hamlet Pub. Metal Culture will be giving out wristbands for the Village Green and there will be lots of other fun activities, including flower arranging demonstrations from Margaret Raymond florists and a “Horrible Histories” workshop from Jacqson Diego bookstore, guaranteed to keep little ghouls amused! Art gallery WOA will also be exhibiting work from amazing local artists in store at Havens.

The winner of Havens’ fantastic kids’ competition will also be revealed at 4.00pm. Local schoolchildren have been challenged to draw, design, or even make, their very own Cornonation crown and entries will be judged by the Mayor of Southend (TBC) with the winner be receiving their prize from Jacqson Diego, plus £100 for their school fund. Jacqson Diego will also have a book signing with J.D. Irwin – author of the incredible Edwin Spencer series.

The whole event is being filmed by the BBC, as part of a forthcoming documentary featuring Havens and focusing on high street regeneration (to be shown this autumn).
