About the Book:
This is the remarkable journey of a young girl with mental distress who remembers nothing of her past or how the twisted road forced her to flee. She is taken in by a family, but knows she is a burden as she cannot find her own identity. Her only memory is of gunfire and raging bullets, surrounded by the vulnerable and feeble. She is tormented by life until she comes face-to-face with Osama Bin Laden. In search of normality, she weds Osama but lives in his shadow, and finds herself in grave danger, manipulation and her own loss of dignity.
About the Author:
Shaida Mehrban lives in Hounslow and is a local Councillor. She has worked as a bookkeeper, accounts clerk and in the retail industry before raising a family. When her youngest child went to school full-time, she attended university and specialized in T.E.S.O.L and started tutoring in her degree subjects of English, Geography and History before turning her hand to writing novels. Shaida has published five books previously entitled Tears of Silence (2006), Tears Behind the Veil (2008), Blossom and I (2010), Remembering the Night Train (2013) and Mother’s Veil (2014) and she aims to write novels which move and inspire people and stories which stay with readers long after they’ve finished reading them.
Excerpt from the book:
“I started to walk towards my right hand as if I had not walked in such a long, long time. He followed and the more he followed the quicker my strides became. It was a truly mad moment because I did not know where I was going, but something within me was pulling me towards it and as my weight carried me on and on, my ears could hear my thump-thump and my heart could feel someone calling it. How could this be true, how could anyone be calling a mad person, the made me? I carried on and on with him behind me, I followed my heart until it just made no sense at all. I stood still with him behind me and then silence followed us both.
I looked all around me but no-one called out. My heart tried to feel all those calling voices but I heard no-one. I even tried to think and I hadn’t done that in maybe all my life, but it was like an A5 sheet of plain drawing paper with nothing on it and, slowly but surely, all that sound of riveting guns and the shot of stainless steel pistol and the squeal of the frightened kids running like lunatics and the mothers wanting their apron-strings never to become loosened from around their heavy middle and fathers trying to look as if they were trying to protect their families but in reality they were so scared that their legs felt like jelly on a plate, and grandparents sitting with their hollow cheeks and eyes half-tilted with tears drained with terror. It is happening right now, I had not had these visions or people calling me for a while now. In fact he, that Osama, had soothed all my cries away but why am I being controlled by them once again? That fear has come but there may be no-one who will ease the pain.”
