Staff and Volunteers at Corby Radio have got together with the 70’s hit group St. Cecilia to record what they hope will be a Christmas Hit, and raise much needed funds for the radio station.

The song ‘Shout Out Merry Christmas’ was written by Keith Hancock and Ricky Moss of Corby group St. Cecilia, who stormed the charts back in 1971 with their huge hit ‘Leap up and Down (Wave your Knickers in the Air)’

‘Shout Out Merry Christmas’ is a great, singalong, cheerful bit of Christmas fun, and the crew from Corby Radio were thrilled to be given the opportunity to be a part of the recording.

Des Barber, Station Manager at Corby Radio said ‘ We at the station are always looking for unique ways to try and raise the amount of money it takes to keep us on air full-time. I have known Keith for many years and mentioned to him that we would love to put out a single that would bring in some funds. He said that he had a Christmas song that he had written at the end of the 70’s that was due for a revival, and suggested we use that’.

In a very short space of time the song has been recorded, burned to disc, labelled, packaged, and is ready to launch on 1st. December in time for the Christmas market.

Although Ricky moved away from the area many years ago, Keith and St. Cecilia’s guitarist John Proctor, meet up every week to write and record in Keith’s home studio, and thoroughly enjoyed the time they spent on the project.

Keith said ‘I am so pleased that the guys at Corby Radio liked the song, and wanted to be a part of the recording, and if it helps to raise money to keep the station on air I will be delighted’. John Proctor added ’It’s fantastic that the song has been recorded, and hopefully will help to keep the Radio Station in my home town of Corby broadcasting for a long time’.

The single will be available on CD and to download from 1st December, and Keith and John along with the guys from Corby Radio are keeping everything crossed and hoping that it will become a huge hit.
