About the Book:
Major Rodney Brown, invalided out of the army, finds himself in a section of the British secret service that deals with matters that do not fall neatly into the remit of either the Foreign Office or the Home Office or that neither of them wants to deal with.
This new Major Brown adventure takes him from the streets of London to Central America, Moscow, Cyprus and South Africa chasing a device that can be used to listen in to the NATO battle computer.
The middle part of the book reflects on an earlier time when he first encountered the Russian Spymaster.
About the Author:
Roger Bensaid spent 24 years in the army and a further 17 years in the gas and oil industry before becoming a specialist consultant which takes him to many of the world’s conflict zones.
He spends much of his time now painting and writing.
Excerpt from the book:
“Two of the Turkish soldiers dropped to the sand as a man, in a classic shooting position, took quick aim and fired a volley at them. The two Russians, both hit several times, catapulted into the sea and floating face down leaked lifeblood that carried and spread stain into the sea. The blood attracted a myriad of small Mediterranean fish to investigate the possibility of an easy meal.
On the cockpit floor, Seabrook raised himself painfully to see what was happening. He had seen the two Russians hit the water and not reappear and could see that the soldiers were still a hundred or more yards away on the beach. Mould was scrambling aboard with Sharky who was unhurt apart from a bloody furrow on his shoulder. Seabrook felt that if he delayed now, all would be up; with his team safely on board, he reached over his head and switched on the engines. The hot engines roared into life immediately and Mould grabbed the wheel spun the boat round and threw the throttles full ahead. The two 250 hp engines virtually lifted the twenty-five foot craft out of the water, it pulled out the beach anchor and roared out of Famagusta Bay leaving the astonished soldiers gaping at the spectacle on the beach.”
