According to analysis of the past 3 years data by Smartbuyglasses UK , the most sought after sunglasses brand globally was Ray-Ban®. There are however major differences in the model preference in countries around the world.
More information:
Looking at the best-selling pairs of sunglasses in July for the past 3 years, Ray-Ban® came out on top as the most desired brand in almost all countries researched. It’s only the popularity of the models that differ according to the results of the latest Smartbuyglasses UK report.
Japanese consumers show interesting habits, as their choice of Ray-Ban frames appears to be more practical. Four of the top five models in the Japanese market 2013 were Ray-Ban RB4105 Folding Wayfarer® sunglasses, whilst in other countries these models do not make it on to the top-sellers list. The United Kingdom, the Netherlands and Switzerland appear to prefer the Ray-Ban RB4165 Justin™ model in black, whilst Australia, Sweden and Denmark favour the Ray-Ban RB2140 Original Wayfarer sunglasses. The black Ray-Ban RB2132 New Wayfarer and mock tortoise/arista Ray-Ban RB3016 Clubmaster® frames were the best-selling models in Germany and Canada. Furthermore, German consumers have a tendency to choose Ray-Ban Active™ sunglasses, which are not as popular in other countries.
The prevalence of the Ray-Ban brand in the top 10 best sellers of 2013 is obvious. Ray-Ban sunglasses make up between 70 and 100% of the list in the majority of countries analysed. The only countries that vary from this pattern are France and the USA where Ray-Ban models account for around 10% of the top sellers list.
