Tata Tiago to Make Its Way on Indian Roads on April 6

Tata Motors finally declare the launch date of the much-expected hatchback ‘Tata Tiago’. The car will is set to launch on April 6 in the Indian market. Bookings for the car can be made with a token amount of INR 10,000 with the Tata dealers across the country.

Earlier named as Zica, the Tata Tiago was expected to launch around the Auto Expo 2016 which ended in the first week of February. The company, however, decided to change its name to ‘Tiago’ from ‘Zica’ after the deadly virus ‘Zika’ made headlines around the world.

The car will be available in 2 versions: petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol version powered by a 1.2 litre, three cylinder all-aluminium Revotron engine makes around 85 PS power @ 6000 rpm and 114 Nm torque @ 3500 rpm. However, the diesel engine known as Revotorq is 1.05 litre with three cylinders which is capable of producing 70 PS power @ 4000 rpm and a torque of 140 NM @ 100-3000 rpm.

The Tata Tiago rides on 14-inch alloy wheels shod with 175/65 R14 front and rear tubeless tyres. Tiago measures 3,746 mm in length, 647 mm in width, and has a wheelbase of 2,400mm. With an overall height of 1535 mm, the vehicle has a ground clearance of 170mm, which is adequate to deal with Indian road conditions. The car has a fuel tank of 35-litres. The top variants of Tiago get ConnectNext, a Harman developed infotainment system exclusively for Tiago.

Platinum Silver, Sunburst Orange, Striker Blue, Espresso Brown, Pearlescent White and Berry Red are the six new vibrant colour variants available. The price of the car is likely to be in between Rs 3.5 lakh to Rs 5.5 lakh (ex-showroom) and the car is estimated to compete with Hyundai i10 and Maruti Celerio.
