An exciting political thriller involving intrigue and fraud

About the Book:

Ged Rogers is a bank clerk in his mid-forties who is forced to re-assess his career after the pruning of staff at the branch of his bank. Rather than accept relocation to another branch he resigns. During the interim period while looking for a new job, he takes on the role of a Special Constable. However, he soon discovers that it is not a role that suits him but before he can call a halt to his probation period he is selected by his commanding officer to undertake an undercover role to determine a fraud that is apparent at the policeman’s brother’s bank. Ged, feeling more confident about this clandestine role, accepts. The trail of fraud that he uncovers is far in excess to what was expected and, having survived an attempt on his life and a series of terrifying adventures, eventually leads to the downfall of the British Government.

Excerpt from the Book:

”Due to the seriousness of the situation, the London side of the police operation was handed over to Special Branch. DCI Morgan was exempted from any direct involvement with that end. However, there were still questions to be answered in Norfolk and he was told to continue with investigations in that area. Penny’s squad car was still parked outside of the Squire’s mansion, as was Ged’s car. Therefore, the three of them set off in the DCI’s car en-route to East Anglia.
Upon arrival both cars were where they had been left. The local police, under the DCI’s instruction, had put ‘police aware’ notices on each of them as a deterrent against possible revenge damage or theft by the Squire. Given his connection with the Russian Embassy it was thought highly likely that he was aware of police involvement. Although Penny’s police car was not marked as such, close examination of several exterior fitments indicated that it was no ordinary vehicle. Ged was desperate to be reunited with Kay and to change into a clean set of clothes. He bade the two police officers goodbye and headed to Aunt Louise’s cottage. The DCI had already seconded Penny to stay with the local investigation and joined her in the bed and breakfast accommodation that she was using.”

Meanwhile, elsewhere, Professor Peter Fleming had made the first payment into the Squire’s secret bank account to enhance his bogus claim of being blackmailed.”
