This is the first book in a remarkable Toby trilogy
More information: This is the first book in a remarkable Toby trilogy
About the Book:
Toby – the first part of a trilogy – has been described by several reviewers as a cross between a sexually explicit Jilly Cooper and Dick Frances.
Toby leaves the Army after a 5-year National Service service commission, after 3 years in 3 Para, where he saw active service during the Suez Crisis and where he was decorated with a MC (Military Cross) for Gallantry.
On leaving the army, he finds he has very little money apart from a small legacy from his late father. He decides to travel to North Yorkshire with an old Army pal. We follow his explicit sexual progress as he builds a new life. Through hot horseracing tips from his old Army pal Liam, and taking every opportunity that comes his way, he starts to amass a fortune, only to suffer a life-changing event.
His life after this event is recorded in the second part of the Toby trilogy which is entitled “Toby Seizes The Day”.
Excerpt from the book:
“Both she and Colin had taken it badly when Jenny had died. Colin had to bring up an independent and outspoken only girl all by himself.
He had thrown himself into his job and built up a very successful, profitable business, allowing him to send Penny away to board at Harrogate Ladies College.
He is really quite dishy, thought Penny, gazing at Toby.
She’d had short affairs with a couple of young students at Art College, where she’d studied Fine art and antiques. She had not had a long-lasting relationship, nor trusting herself and always telling herself she would know when Mr. Right came long.
She worked for a very upmarket antiques dealer in Harrogate. Hugo, her boss, was in his mid-fifties, with a frigid wife.
He always took the glamorous Penny away on antique trips or to fairs. Plump little Hugo with his silver, swept-back hair, bow ties and pink shirts was light years away from this tough, masculine man called Toby.
It was love at first sight and her heart thumped as Colin said, ‘I’ve got a leg in a horse running at Catterick next week. If I wangle a couple of extra badges to the Owners & Trainers, would you and Liz like to join us?’ he waved at Penny.
