Cisco launched on Wednesday, a new range of video conferencing products aimed to equip with video conferencing product, every single meeting room worldwide.
Most meeting rooms currently lack video conferencing systems altogether or have obsolete equipment that don’t work properly. This new products launch is aimed to tackle this market opportunity. Cisco is renowned for its high-end, immersive, no-compromise telepresence systems and now, Cisco is able to replicate this features and capabilities for meeting rooms and offices of any size, focusing its efforts to the highly profitable medium sized business market.
Key factor for the success of this project, says Rowan Trollope senior vice president of Cisco\’s Collaboration Technology Group, is to provide “do-it-yourself products”, to allow managers with to technical experience to unpack and simply set-up video conferencing equipment in their conference rooms, with no need for IT support. Making collaboration simple, both on the user and the management side.
To simply video conferencing Cisco offers the aid of single-managed platforms such as the Cisco Business Edition 6000. The Cisco Business Edition 6000 is a purpose-built, easy-to-use device that helps solve the complex communications challenges of unified voice, video and IM and presence by using Cisco Communications Manager to control end-to-end collaboration capabilities.
This mid-market video collaboration project also includes the integration of several video conferencing products with the new Intelligent Proximity technology, to take advantage of every device available in the conference room, including smartphones, tablets, and flat panel monitors, allowing users to link to the session, view shared materials and save slides and contents.
Leader vendor of the enterprise video conferencing sector and with strong offerings in the low end, such as Cisco Webex, Cisco is now aiming to tackle the mid-market, making video conferencing more accessible and even more pervasive. Offering a range of products that stands in between of the desktop products and the large boardrooms immersive systems with a range of inexpensive, highly portable and easy-to-install solution to small and mid-sized meeting and conference rooms of any size.
The launch included the second-generation of the TelePresence MX200, an integrated, floor-standing, 42-inch display HD system and the TelePresence MX700 which support the H.265 video coding technology for reducing bandwidth without affecting image quality. The TelePresence SX10 Quick Set is aimed at meeting rooms that have flat panel displays, promising to turn these into video conferencing systems in under 10 minutes. Cisco also unveiled the Precision 60 camera, able to capture video at 1080p resolution at 60 frames per second and adjusts itself to different lighting conditions and the SpeakerTrack 60, a dual-camera system which detects the active speaker and follows the person’s movement in the room. The Cisco TelePresence SX80 is an integrator box for large rooms with non-conventional layouts, that works with a variety of cameras and can be paired with the MX700 and MX800.
Cisco finally announced the upgrade or their Business Edition 6000 mid-market video and collaboration bundle with a new 25-user \”starter\” license option. Some of its components are the Cisco Unified Communications Manager for IP telephony, Jabber for instant messaging and presence, Unity Connection for voicemail, Unified Attendant Console for call routing, TelePresence. Similar options will be available on the enterprise side, for the Business Edition 7000.
All these products are due to ship this spring.
