Volpara and Yellowfin Unveil Cloud Analytics Product for Breast Cancer Screening

Volpara Solutions’ parent company, Volpara Health Technologies, is a global healthcare software developer headquartered in Wellington, New Zealand. Volpara’s breast imaging products are used in over 30 countries.

“Yellowfin has allowed Volpara to take a proof-of-concept design and make it into a fully-fledged, completely rebranded cloud-ready product – all in the space of months, not years,” said Volpara Technical Sales Manager, Paul Clancy. “It has enabled us to deliver a world-first product to our global network of customers, including non-English speaking markets such as Japan.”

Volpara’s existing suite of quantitative breast imaging products provide accurate estimates of breast density – an important factor in determining a women’s suitability for mammography and her lifetime cancer risk. Volpara recognised its existing products were producing a significant volume of valuable and actionable clinical data, and that a cloud-based analytics platform would pave the way for clients to start visualising Big Data analytics to gain unprecedented insights.

“The VolparaEnterprise analytics solution, powered by Yellowfin’s BI platform and hosted in Microsoft’s Azure cloud, will offer users a complete overview of a breast imaging clinic – from the patients with whom they consult, to the quality of mammograms taken and how their machines and operators are performing,” said Yellowfin co-Founder and CEO, Glen Rabie.

According to Clancy, integrating Yellowfin into its VolparaEnterprise analytics product has empowered Volpara to deliver a world-first cloud-based service. Additionally, the scalability and flexibility of the cloud-based platform has enabled Volpara to expand its global reach and open up new opportunities within current markets.

“Yellowfin allows us to easily design the right reports, charts and dashboards for each kind of user,” said Clancy. “Business users can easily see high-level statistics, while scientists and deep-data lovers can quickly analyse detailed data, drilling all the way down to the level they desire.”

Volpara also cited easy configuration and simple integration with its SQL database, as well as the ability to translate both system information and content in Yellowfin, as technical reasons underpinning the partnership decision. Volpara Solutions’ parent company, Volpara Health Technologies (ASX: VHT), listed on the Australian Securities Exchange on 27 April this year.
